1. Passion of Mankind<br>
Invitation<br>
Hereby we invite artists from all over the world to send proposal for <br>
the Luleå Summer Biennial 2007. The theme is Passion of Mankind. <br>
There are no restrictions regarding material or technique. A jury <br>
will select the participating artists among the sketch proposals.<br>
<br>
CONDITIONS AND INSTRUCTIONS<br>
Information<br>
For the past 17 years, the KILen artists group in Luleå, together <br>
with the City of Luleå, has held and developed international artistic <br>
events in Luleå in northern Sweden. Their aim is to create one of the <br>
most interesting artistic events in the world. <br>
Luleå and the region has been developed, through the history, from <br>
its ore and steel industry, until today´s high technology and science.<br>
<br>
Duration<br>
Construction period June 11 - June 19.<br>
Exhibition period June 20 - August 19.<br>
<br>
Location <br>
Luleå Summer Biennial is held at two separate locations, one inside <br>
and one outside:<br>
• The Art Hall – At the new Culture House.<br>
• The Museum Park.<br>
<br>
Participants<br>
• 20 Artists from all over the world will be accepted to participate <br>
in the biennial. The jury will make its selection based on the sketch <br>
proposals that have been received by the Luleå Summer Biennial <br>
organizer before February 15, 2007.<br>
• Each artist may be accompanied by a colleague who can either share <br>
the project or work as an assistant. Please indicate this at the <br>
appropriate place on the application form.<br>
• Participants partake at their own risk. Ensure that you have <br>
arranged adequte insurance cover. <br>
<br>
Travel and accomodation<br>
• The organizer will pay for a return journey (round trip) to <br>
Luleå for one artist.<br>
• Accommodation for two people from each art project, including <br>
food, will be provided by the organizer during the construction <br>
period (June 11 to the morning of June 21). The accommodation and <br>
food expenses for any other person who may travel with the artist and <br>
his assistant will not be provided by the organizer.<br>
<br>
Fees <br>
• An Exhibition fee of SEK 3000 (about USD 430) for each artist <br>
with accompanied colleague or assistant, will be paid by the <br>
organizer.<br>
• Two grants worth SEK 8,000 (about 1100 USD) each will be awarded.<br>
• If the work of art is to be for sale, please indicate the <br>
price at the appropriate place on the application form. The <br>
organizer´s commission fee is 20 %.<br>
If it is not for sale please indicate it´s insurable value.<br>
<br>
Materials<br>
• There are no restrictions regarding material or technique.<br>
• Those artists wishing to create their works in Luleå must <br>
specify the materials they require that they would like the <br>
organizers to arrange.<br>
• The materials are on the organizers expense.<br>
• If the artist has any special needs regarding to the project, <br>
let us know. We will provide any assistance possible.<br>
<br>
Tools<br>
We can provide the artist with tools and equipment that the artist <br>
are unable to carry with him/her. Please, let us know in advance <br>
exactly which tools that will be needed.<br>
<br>
• The organizer reserve the right to publish photographs and <br>
films showing the exhibits.<br>

2. Call for applications - Art Omi International Artists Residency - <br>
Hudson River Valley/United States<br>
<br>
The Art Omi International Artists' Residency offersvisual <br>
artists three-weeks residencies in the month of July 2007.<br>
The program includes a critic-in-residence who facilitates an <br>
ongoing dialogue in studio visits, as well as day visits from <br>
dealers, curators, artists and critics from New York City. The<br>
residency session concludes with an Open Studios event to which <br>
members of the art world from both upstate New York and New York City <br>
are invited.<br>

3. Creative Exchange has just launched a new web resource on Culture, <br>
Arts and Refugees.<br>
The Culture, Arts and Refugees website has been created to host <br>
materials aboutthe role of arts and culture in the inclusion and <br>
integration of refugees and asylum seekers. The website has online <br>
videos and downloadable case studies and is an evolving resource <br>
which will feature new materials and features as it grows.<br>

4. Call for artists - Ask the dead project 2007 - Dortmund/Germany<br>
In summer 2007, within the period of August 25th and September <br>
1st,Artscenico and the festival Off Limits cooperate to create a <br>
competition for "short cuts" dealing<br>
with anniversaries of dead artists.<br>
There are lots of variations of memories of the dead performers <br>
are asked to create a piece of artwork about. Dancers, actors, <br>
directors, performers and other artists are asked to have a close <br>
look at the works of dead artists.<br>

5. Call for artists - Artist-in-Residence Invitation Program - <br>
IAMAS/Japan<br>
IAMAS (Institute of Advanced Media Arts and Sciences and <br>
International Academy of Media Arts and Science) conducts an Artist-<br>
in-Residence invitational program for a 6 months period<br>
between 1st April 2007 and 31st March 2008.<br>
Each year IAMAS invites outstanding artists to support new and <br>
creative activities wherein scientific knowledge and artistic <br>
sensibility are aesthetically combined.<br>
