Contempporana, intitulata 'Regimuri ale reprezentarii: Arta si politica dincolo
de Casa Poporului', va avea ca subiect chiar spatiul care gazduieste
evenimentul. Fosta Casa a Poporului, actualmente Palatul Parlamentului, intr-o
aripa a caruia se afla muzeul de arta contemporana, va fi punctul de plecare
intr-o dezbatere despre relatia dintre politica, imaginatie si reprezentare,
atit in cit si dincolo de conditia post-comunista. <o></o></FONT></SPAN></P>
<P class="MsoNormal"><SPAN lang="IT" style="FONT-SIZE: 11pt;FONT-FAMILY: Times-Roman;"><FONT face="Times">MNAC este una dintre incercarile Estului de a folosi arta
contemporana pentru a transforma un simbol totalitar intr-un loc al democratiei
- unicitatea sa vine insa din faptul ca Palatul Parlamentului este locul puterii
politice. Intrebarea centrala a conferintei este: poate arta 'lua locul puterii,
producind un simbol al deschiderii si democratiei' (Nicolas Bourriaud)? Poate
imaginatia influenta intelesul unei cladiri care este logo-ul unui regim
totalitar? Cum poate o institutie de arta contemporana sa foloseasca acest
simbol sau aceasta fundatie pentru a construi o identitate nationala? Putem

prezentarea mea voi urmari diferite moduri de a gindi spatiul public si
implicatiile acestor modele pentru practicile artistice. Argumetul meu este ca
arta publica nu este arta instalata intr-un spatiu public, in opozitie cu unul
privat. Arta publica este cea care instituie spatiul public, in sensul unei
actiuni comune a mai multor oameni. De pilda, voi incerca sa arat </SPAN><SPAN lang="IT" style="FONT-SIZE: 11pt;FONT-FAMILY: TimesNewRomanPSMT;"><FONT face="Times">ce tip de public ar trebui sa creeze institutiile de arta: un spatiu
public al carui scop este consensul sau un spatiu public al confruntarii
agonistice? Preluind idei din lucrarile mele anterioare, voi demonstra ca
sarcina politicii democratice nu este aceea de a agrega interese sau de a crea
un consens rational, ci de a transforma antagonismul in agonism. Rationamentul
reformuleaza relatia dintre arta si politica si permite o alta intelegere a
naturii practicilor artistice critice. Miza fundamentala este o interogatie a
modelului hegemonic prin formularea acelor elemente indepartate de consensul
bazat pe dominatie. Voi insista asupra modurilor multiple in care acest tip de
consens poate fi subminat si voi arata ca practicile artistice pot contribui la
articularea unor forme noi ale subiectivitatii. <o></o></FONT></SPAN></P>

fundatie a fundamentului insusi. Acesta este aspectul pe care MNAC e nevoit sa
il negocieze. Dar cum poate arta prelua intelesul unei asemenea cladiri pentru a
o transfoma intr-un simbol al deschiderii si democratiei, asa cum spune unul

Filosofia si arta instituie lucruri, le afirma. Afirmatia difera de dovada sau
de opinie prin faptul ca e nevoita sa se dispenseze de certitudini. O filosofie
a afirmatiei este o filosofie a incertitudinii. Ea depaseste sau transgreseaza
modalitatile gindirii conventionale ca reflectia, argumentul, intemeierea,
critica. Ea produce contactul dintre subiect si adevar in conditii de
inceritudine si da acestui moment o forma, un limbaj. Adevarul se refera la
limitele lumii faptelor. Filosofia exista numai in masura in care atinge aceste
limite. Este o afirmatie care neaga validitatea imperativelor factuale. Ajungind
la adevar, filosofia trebuie sa reziste la certitudinea opiniei si
obscurantismul faptelor in egala masura. Ea atinge intangibilul si transforma
aceasta atingere intr-o forma de viata. Voi pleda in favoarea relevantei
politice a artei si filosofiei, in contrast cu arta si filosofa politica
conventionale. Vreau sa demostrez ca arta si filosofa politica isi descriu
propria de-politizare, ca nu se preocupa de o politica a libertatii, a
imposibilului si a ceea ce este absolut necesar. Politica la care ma refer
difera de ceea ce se numeste in mod obisnuit politica, in masura in care nu
afirma sau apara interese, ci apare ca o forma de rezistenta la realitatea
socio-politica si ideo-culturala. Ea este articulata printr-un refuz absolut al
universului faptelor si opiniilor care circula in univers. Apare ca o politica a
adevarului, in masura in care ia drept dovezi lucrurile care intra in conflict
cu certitudinile acceptate. <o></o></FONT></SPAN></P>
<P class="MsoNormal"><SPAN lang="IT" style="FONT-SIZE: 11pt;FONT-FAMILY: TimesNewRomanPSMT;"><FONT face="Times">Arta are inteles doar ca arta, filosofia are inteles doar ca
filosofie. Arta si filosofia nu pot fi reduse la cimpul socio-politic care le
articuleaza. Nu are sens sa definim misiunea artei si filosofei ca una politica.
'Aceasta este iluzia stingii din ultimele decenii', spune Heiner Müller, 'a
intelectualilor europeni si in special a literatilor, de a sustine ca arta si
politica pot sau trebuie sa aiba aceleasi interese. Finalmente, arta nu poate fi
controlata. Sau se poate intotdeauna sustrage controlului. Si din acest motiv a
fost intotdeauna aproape automat subversiva.'<o></o></FONT></SPAN></P>

Socialismului care porneste de la el - a fenomenului anti-urban denumit oficial
'noul centru civic', a fost interpretata recent luind in calcul conceptia,
constructia si utilizarea lor din perioada comunista si pina in prezent. Orice
tentativa de a pune ordine aici trebuie sa porneasca de la doua premise. Mai
intii, acest edificiu rezista oricarei interpretari unitare, 'holistice', care
ar incerca sa-i epuizeze intelesurile in ceea ce priveste productia si
destinatia. In al doilea rind, distinctii importante apar daca incercam sa
explicam cladirea pronind de la cele trei tipuri de spatii pe care le genereaza.
</FONT></SPAN><SPAN lang="RO" style="FONT-SIZE: 11pt;FONT-FAMILY: 'Times New Roman';">Intre
acestea, spatiul exterior, i.e</SPAN><FONT face="Times"><SPAN lang="RO" style="FONT-SIZE: 11pt;FONT-FAMILY: TimesNewRomanPSMT;">
</SPAN><SPAN lang="IT" style="FONT-SIZE: 11pt;FONT-FAMILY: TimesNewRomanPSMT;">orasul,
urmat de spatiul exterior cladirii, i.e imediata ei vecinatate, in limbajul
strimb al politicii post-sovietice sau ca halou urias de influenta emanat de
monstruoasa structura. In al treilea rind, spatiul din afara.
</SPAN></FONT><SPAN lang="RO" style="FONT-SIZE: 11pt;FONT-FAMILY: 'Times New Roman';">In
conditiile in care ne lipsesc datele verificabile, doar marturiile orale pot
explica natura aproape ‚oculta’ a celei mai ample operatiuni urbane din istoria
Romaniei. Aceste surse orale includ studii incomplete sau nepublicate, ca cel
intreprins de </SPAN><SPAN lang="RO" style="FONT-SIZE: 11pt;FONT-FAMILY: TimesNewRomanPSMT;"><FONT face="Times">Gérard Althabe de la EHESS sau legende povestite de martori oculari
sau de fosti 'initiati' precum profesorul Cornel Dumitrescu, la vremea aceea
rector al IAIM Bucuresti. Acest proiect colosal isi datoreaza dimensiunea
imaginara, mitica, valului de 'petites histoires' pe care le-a generat.
<o></o></FONT></SPAN></P>
<P class="MsoNormal"><FONT face="Times"><SPAN lang="RO" style="FONT-SIZE: 11pt;FONT-FAMILY: TimesNewRomanPSMT;">Chiar
daca partiale, interpretarile cele mai valoroase nu se regasesc in discursul
despre arhitectura si urbanism, ci in stiintele socio-umane si politice, istoria
mentalitatilor, antropologia stratului peri-urban, si, nu in ultimul rind, in
psihanaliza. </SPAN><SPAN lang="IT" style="FONT-SIZE: 11pt;FONT-FAMILY: TimesNewRomanPSMT;">Diversele
proiecte propuse pentru Casa Republicii dupa '89 oscileaza intre doua extreme -
cele mai putin radicale propun o 'recuperare' a Casei in termenii strict
profesionali ai 'expertizei' arhitecturale.<o></o></SPAN></FONT></P>
<P class="MsoNormal"><SPAN lang="IT" style="FONT-SIZE: 11pt;FONT-FAMILY: TimesNewRomanPSMT;"><FONT face="Times">Argumentul a fost folosit nu doar de catre arhitecti ci si de catre
diversii interpreti ai Casei care ghideaza in preajma ei vizitatori straini
uluiti. La urma urmelor, Casa Republicii inseamna cantitate, dimensiuni, design,
structuri speciale si asa mai departe. La inceputul urmelor, putem vorbi de
'postmodernismul' Casei si Bulevardului, de ‘Bigness’ (Rem Koolhaas) si alte
concepte care se pot dovedi utile. In discutiile despre Casa, aspectul mai
'inalt' (in sensul strict al ab/uzului, al investirii excesive cu inteles) este
perceput ca epifanie. Casa este un templu al Ierusalimului, inaltat la Bucuresti
in previziunea unei a doua veniri pe care o pune in act.
<o></o></FONT></SPAN></P>
<P class="MsoNormal"><SPAN lang="IT" style="FONT-SIZE: 11pt;FONT-FAMILY: TimesNewRomanPSMT;"><FONT face="Times">O alta intelegere 'oculteaza' numeroasele pliuri sociale, economice
si politice ale edificiului, si o face deliberat adeseori. Altii sint cuprinsi
de frenezie interpretativa in fata cladirii. Intre aceste extreme flutura o
nesfirsita inlantuire de griuri. De pilda, retorica nationalista se simte
incurajata de datele, in aparenta neutre, privind tehnologiile de constructie si
materialele care sint, se pare, exclusiv romanesti si, desigur, exceptionale.
(Castelul Peles survine uneori ca un corolar. Acolo, pina si lemnul a fost
importat.) Exista si ideile, mai decente din punct de vedere profesional dar nu
mai putin fantasmagorice, despre un plan prestabilit al Bucurestiului, intemeiat
pe o schema utopica sau ideala de tip Sforzinda (Dana Harhoiu). Originea
structurala a acestui plan ar fi o geometrie sacra constituita de un Triunghi
monastic al Bermudelor, cu biserici parohiale dispuse concentric in relatie cu
Biserica Sf. Gheorghe, considerata ombilicul orasului.

platforma petroliera din Marea Nordului. Acest proiect, centrat pe studiul
identitatii teritoriale si difuziunii ei prin retele informationale, al
miturilor si simbolismului, s-a desfasurat in 2003 la Jan van Eyck Academie,
Maastricht.<o></o></SPAN></FONT></P>
