<br><br>Kumu Art Museum, Tallinn Art Hall, Gallery of the Tallinn Art Hall,Tallinn<br>City Gallery<br><br><br><br>Theme of the 14th Tallinn Print Triennial:<br><br><br>Political and poetical<br><br><br>The organisers of the 14th Tallinn Print Triennal invite artists to
<br>address two themes: Political and Poetical, that may at first seem<br>mutually antagonistic, but which are important (or essential) aspects of<br>the graphic arts. Throughout their history the graphic arts have been<br>
employed in both the social/political and the personal/poetic spheres.<br>They have offered the mechanism for the mass promotion of political ideas<br>and created conditions in which personal and liberal self-expression can
<br>flourish.<br><br>But are these themes mutually exclusive? Can the political be poetic and<br>visa versa? And if these barriers can be crossed, what are the<br>consequences of intermingling their themes? Is print-based political
<br>propaganda a form of romantic self-deception, microscopic resistance,<br>serious political engagement, poetic self-expression or all of these<br>rolled together? What is the impact of a poetically-clad political<br>message? What new tricks can the art of printing bring to the enduring
<br>themes of politics and poetry?<br><br><br><br>Regulations:<br><br>The 14th Tallinn Print Triennial presents works of visual art that were<br>produced using mechanical or digital reproduction or printing<br>technologies, produced in 20042007 on the topic of Political and
<br>Poetical.<br><br>We expect individual works or series (measurements and number is not<br>limited) that would not cover more than 10 sq m of wall space.<br><br>The council of the Triennial has the right to invite artists also outside
<br>the competition.<br><br><br><br>The selection of works consists of two phases:<br><br>Phase A Sending digital material or slides<br><br>DEADLINE: 2 April 2007<br><br><br>1. Images sent by e-mail or on CDs (PC, JPEG, 72 dpi, longer side 20 cm)
<br>should be sent together with completed entry form (downloaded from<br><a href="http://www.triennial.ee">www.triennial.ee</a> <<a href="http://www.triennial.ee/">http://www.triennial.ee/</a>> ) to the e-mail address:
<br><a href="mailto:tallinn@triennial.ee">tallinn@triennial.ee</a> <mailto:<a href="mailto:triennial@gmail.com">triennial@gmail.com</a>> or to the address shown<br>in the end of the regulations.<br><br>Those artists selected for Phase B are asked to send later also CDs with
<br>PC images for printing the catalogue (PC, TIFF or JPEG, 300 dpi, RGB,<br>longer side 20 cm)<br><br><br><br>2. Images sent on slides:<br><br>35 mm slides in 5 x 5 cm mounts (on which should be written the name of<br>the artist, country, the title of the work, year and the number of the
<br>slide) should be sent together with the completed entry form to the<br>address shown in the end of the regulations.<br><br><br><br>International jury selects artists from Phase A for Phase B to<br>participate in the 14th Tallinn Print Triennial.
<br><br>Slides and CDs of the works will not be returned.<br><br><br><br><br><br>Phase B selected artists<br><br>DEADLINE: 20 AUGUST10 SEPTEMBER, 2007<br><br>WORKS MUST BE IN TALLINN BY 10 SEPTEMBER 2007<br><br><br><br>
Artists selected for Phase B should send their works (at their own cost)<br>together with completed entry form to the address shown in the end of the<br>regulations.<br><br><br><br>We suggest to use strong rolls for packing. Prints must be sent unframed
<br>and without mounts. Signing the entry form means that the artist accepts<br>the regulations.<br><br>If the works do not arrive on time, the artist cannot take part in the<br>Triennial.<br><br>If any damage is found on receiving the prints, the artist will be notified.
<br><br>3-dimensional works should be packed in such a way that the organisers<br>could return them in the same packing. Any assembly instructions should be<br>sent with the work.<br><br><br><br>Participation fee:<br><br>
Phase A: free of charge.<br><br>Phase B: European countries 20; non-European countries 30<br><br>Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania free of charge<br><br>Methods of payment will be announced to selected artists.
<br><br><br><br>Prizes:<br><br>Grand Prix 2500<br><br>3 Equal Prizes a' 1000.<br><br>Purchase prizes.<br><br>All prize-winning works will become the property of local public entities<br>sponsoring such awards. GRAND PRIX and the three equal prize works will be
<br>included in the Tallinn Print Triennial's art collection in the Art Museum<br>of Estonia. The winner of Grand Prix will be invited to participate with a<br>special exhibition at the 15th Tallinn Print Triennial in 2010.
<br><br><br><br>Catalogue:<br><br>The organisers will publish a colour catalogue of the Triennial and each<br>participating artist will receive a copy free of charge.<br><br><br><br>General information:<br><br>The works will be returned within 6 months after closing date of the
<br>exhibition.<br><br>Works can also be put up for sale if so indicated on the entry form.<br>Author's fee should be in Euros. There will be 15 % commission on sales.<br><br>The organisers reserve the right to photograph or otherwise reproduce the
<br>works for the purpose of publicising and recording the Triennial.<br><br>While all precautions will be taken in the handling of the works, the<br>organisers assume no responsibility for any damage to the prints as the
<br>result of events beyond their control or during transportation. If artists<br>need more protection, they should make arrangements with their own<br>insurance agency.<br><br><br><br>All correspondence concerning 14th Tallinn Print Triennial should be sent
