Enrollment is now open for programs at the Faculty of Arts & Design, University Iuav of Venice. The faculty offers a unique combination of theory-criticism based courses with innovative applied art courses. Its teaching method is centred around "project design", i.e., not only teaching technique but also the entire creative process, from conception to realization. For this reason the educational program is two-fold: theory-criticism based courses, covering a wide range of disciplines, combined with experimental workshops, led by internationally renown artists, where students’ work is developed and realized in actual exhibitions and performances.

The faculty offers higher educational programs in the arts field.

The Undergraduate Program in Visual Art & Theatre is unique because it allows students to deepen and mature their educational vocation in the arts and creativity. Its primary goal is to teach fundamental artistic techniques with particular emphasis on the techniques of design, photography, set-design, direction, digital image processing, and video.

Throughout the 3-year program students participate in new workshop experiences, led by highly qualified artists and professionals, where they create and realize art projects in theatre, visual arts, and multimedia communication.

The Graduate Program in Visual Arts is an internationally recognized graduate degree program open to individuals with a 3-year university degree or a Fine Arts Academy degree. It is the only university program in Italy where prestigious theorists and internationally renown artists lead students in workshops lasting 11 weeks.

Founded in 2001 as a part of the Faculty of Arts & Design, the program, has managed in just six years to form a faculty of the best theorists in the arts and related fields, and the most prestigious professors of aesthetics, semiotics, psychology, and art economics in Italy: names like Giorgio Agamben, Irene Bignardi, Antonio Costa, Daniele Del Giudice, Paolo Fabbri, Paolo Legrenzi, Patrizia Magli, Franco Rella, Pier Luigi Sacco.

The program is one of its kind for having brought together a wide and varied number of scholars from the professional world. Students have had the opportunity to attend workshops by artists like Maja Bajevic, Lewis Baltz, Tania Bruguera, Jimmie Durham, Olafur Eliasson, Guido Guidi, Runa Islam, Mona Hatoum, Armin Linke, Joseph Kosuth, Antoni Muntadas, Giulio Paolini, Cesare Pietroiusti, Remo Salvadori, Lewis Baltz, Tobias Rehberger, Rirkrit Tiravanija, and Grazia Toderi. Many courses are transferable from similar programs in Theatre, Design, and Visual Communication. Exhibition workshops have been held by professors such as Carlos Basualdo, Francesco Bonami, Cornelia Lauf, Hans Ulrich Obrist, and Pierre Rosenberg.

The alternation between workshops and theory based courses allows students to measure themselves with various approaches to the visual arts. Thus, students are able to personalize their educational experience freely, and with ample influence from various maestros.
