The one-year Theory & Practice of Transnational Art MA offers an emphasis and structure particularly suitable for those interested in commencing MPhil or PhD research after completion. Such students are supported through the process of applying for a further research degree. As an MA by independent project, Theory & Practice of Transnational Art is also suited to arts graduates and practitioners who are interested in developing a wider contextual understanding, strong research skills, and an awareness of professional issues. As a prospective student you can apply with a practice-based project - or you can apply with a proposal for a solely written research project. Individual study is complemented by seminars, lectures, tutorials and workshops; specialist lectures are delivered by the scholars and practitioners attached to the TrAIN research centre, and are organised under themes including: <I>Exhibiting the Nation; Identity, Authenticity and Materials</I>; and <I>Migr
ation and the Context of the Transnational</I>. A series on <I>Methodologies of the Transnational</I> provides the necessary tools for the production of your final submission. <br>

Part of the University of the Arts London, the TrAIN Research Centre is a forum for historical, theoretical, and practice-based research in the arts. Directed by Professors Toshio Watanabe, Oriana Baddeley and Deborah Cherry, TrAIN involves internationally recognised scholars and practitioners based at three UAL colleges: Camberwell College of Arts, Chelsea College of Art & Design and Central Saint Martins College of Art & Design. We support a programme of regular public and pedagogical events and foster collaborations with institutions and individuals internationally. Previous guest speakers include Ricardo Basbaum, Guy Brett, TJ Demos, Charles Esche, Kobena Mercer and Gilane Tawadros. Our next public event will be <I>Transnational Correspondence</I>, a two-day symposium at Tate Modern, London. Forming part of an ongoing collaboration with EBA-PPGAV, a centre for postgraduate research at the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro, this event will mark the launch of the first
TrAIN/EBA-PPGAV collaborative publication. <br>
