<br>
The Rijksakademie Research Residency in Amsterdam is an international<br>
research and production place for talented, professional artists <br>
from all<br>
over the world. The Rijksakademie is more than a residency. It has <br>
extensive<br>
technical facilities, a library, artistsą documentation and art <br>
collections.<br>
In addition the Rijksakademie offers material basic facilities such <br>
as a<br>
studio, a work budget, mediation with accommodation and grants.<br>
<br>
There are some fifty studios where resident artists work for one to <br>
two<br>
years on research, experiments, projects and production. <br>
Confrontation with<br>
diverse cultures and advice by renowned international artists, <br>
exhibition<br>
makers, theoreticians and technical specialists promote the <br>
deepening,<br>
expansion and acceleration of artistic practice. Practical <br>
experience has<br>
revealed that a work period at the Rijksakademie has the greatest <br>
effect<br>
three to five years after graduation.<br>
<br>
Resident artists pursue every medium and technique: painting, <br>
drawing,<br>
graphics, photography, sculpture, video, film, sound and digital <br>
media.<br>
Links with other areas are also explored such as architecture and <br>
public<br>
space, theatre, music, literature and diverse scientific disciplines.<br>
<br>
Application<br>
Each year approximately twenty-five artists are invited for a <br>
residency.<br>
Artists can apply for a residency from January to December 2009 by <br>
using the<br>
online application form. The deadline for application is 1 February <br>
2008.<br>
