Many of the Res Artis member organisations and representatives from the Res Artis Board will be attending Trans Cultural Exchange meeting in Boston this April 2009. We will be organising a meeting for the Res Artis members on 3 April 2009 from 15.00 - 17.00 hours.<br>

Organisations who are considering to join the Res Artis network are welcome to join this Res Artis regional meeting. You can register for this meeting by emailing our office: office@resartis.org <br>

Several Res Artis members will be attending a symposium in Egypt this month, from the 25-27 of March. This meeting will be a chance to focus on the needs, ideas and existing organizations that are involved with cultural exchange between artists from Europe, the Middle East and Africa. It will also be a chance for individuals involved with artist residencies to meet, a rare occasion for workers in this region. <br>

Res Artis administrator, Irene Saddal will be giving a workshop about Res Artis as part of this event. <br>

<ul><li><b>Where is it?</b><br><br>Artistay’s partners, artists residencies and writers retreats, are located in different parts of France, all in a rural environment.</li><br>
<li><b>What is it?</b><br><br>Artistay is a service for artists, writers, architects, academics, art teachers, curators… from all over the world, looking for a short term stay as part of a residency program in France in order to realize a personal project. We guide them in this research, and help them to find the most suitable place for their proposal, in the network of professional artists residencies we work with. All these residence programs aim to provide a nice living environment, premises and equipment adapted for the creation, administrative and basic technical support as well as a social, cultural and artistic environment encouraging the exchange and dialogue.</li><br>
<li><b>Whats going on now?</b><br><br>Artists in all media, writers and art professionals with a personal project (research or creative work) or a sabbatical project in France, may avail of artistay’s service anytime, the art residencies we work with are open all year round, and there is no application deadline.

<ul><li><b>Where is it?</b><br><br>The workshop takes place at <a href="http://www.toule.net/index.php?lg=en">Las Téoulères, International center for theatrical research and training</a>, located in Labarrère, south of France. We are keeping the fees low by having a space for camping (dormitories and private rooms are also available). We will live and work on site.</li><br>
<li><b>What is it?</b><br><br>This is a month long laboratory in which we will conceive, create, and mount a cross-cultural, collective creation, with all the resident artists. With Director Sam Kerson, founder of Dragon Dance Theatre we will work together and build an outdoor spectacle, with large masques and puppets, that will be presented twice in the form of a performance. Search engines (such as Google, Yahoo or MSN) are the tools that most people use to find content on the internet. There are a few easy things that you can do in order to make it easier for search engines, and the millions of people who use them, to find the information on your site. <br>
<br>
<ol><li>submit your site directly to Google or Yahoo (<a href="http://www.google.com/addurl/">www.google.com/addurl</a> , <a href="http://search.yahoo.com/info/submit.html">http://search.yahoo.com/info/submit.htm</a>)</li>
<li>encourage others to link to your site; related organizations, local arts councils, past residents’ personal pages (see who is linking to you now by typing in ‘link:www.yourwebsite.org’ into goggle search) </li>
<li>get listed with arts and culture databases in your region and internationally; for example <a href="http://www.labforculture.org/">www.labforculture.org</a> or <a href="http://www.communityarts.net/">www.communityarts.net</a> or <a href="http://www.transartists.nl/">www.transartists.nl</a></li>
<li>identify key words for your page, for example ‘artist residency Mexico’ and place these keywords in prime locations on your site, such as headlines and section titles, linked text and metadata (which has to be incorporated with the html coding of your site, ask your webmaster about this) </li>
<li>update your site often, adding new news, stories, images and other content to your site often will encourage the engines to visit frequently and boost your rating.</li></ol>
