Much of the May — June issue of <i>Flash Art International</i> is dedicated to one of the oldest biennials
internationally, which welcomes thousands of visitors every two years.<br>
<br>
Given the long history of this event, <i>Flash Art</i> has invited Daniel Birnbaum, this year's curator of the "Making
Worlds" exhibition, and Carlos Basualdo, Commissioner of the 53rd Venice Biennale U.S. Pavilion, to discuss the
heritage of the <b>Venice Biennale</b>, and to answer whether the tradition has influenced their respective curatorial
practices. <br>
<br>
Accompanying this Biennale discussion, 10 artists, working individually and in collaboration, have realized 8 full-page
special projects for this issue. <b>David Bestué</b> and <b>Marc Vives, Mike Bouchet, Paul Chan, Nikhil Chopra, Keren
Cytter, Nathalie Djurberg, Wade Guyton</b> and <b>Kelley Walker, Anawana Haloba</b> — all included in the exhibition
"Making Worlds" — have contributed to this unique <i>Flash Art</i> Venice portfolio. <br>

Also directly from the Venice Biennale, Paola Nicolin writes about how U.S. artist <b>Bruce Nauman</b> has been
"mapping the studio" throughout the whole city of Venice.<br>
<br>
Warsaw-born Romanian artist <b>André Cadere</b> betrays a sense of contradiction in his biography that informs his
work too. A text by Magda Radu sheds light on his celebrated actions and the artist's impenetrable personality. <br>
<br>
Is it still possible to tell fables today? Thus does Maurizio Cattelan and <b>Guy Ben-Ner</b> begin a conversation that
ends in a discussion of Engels' theories about family and economics. <br>
<br>
In this issue's <i>Ouverture</i> Chris Sharp looks at Berlin-based <b>Becky Beasley</b>. In <i>Spotlight</i> Karolina
Łabowicz-Dymanus presents <b>Katarzyna Kobro</b> and <b>Lygia Clark</b>. In <i>Global Art</i> Sarah Andress writes
about <b>Kutlug Ataman</b>'s premier of <i>fff </i>in London last season.<br>
