<p>Hello friends,<br></p><p>This December, InCUBATE’s monthly residency will be sponsored in the name of Michael Piazza (1955‐<br>
2006). Michael was an artist, teacher, activist who spent his life working with voices that were quieted by<br>
trauma, incarceration, power, and disability. He sought to encourage the spirit of creativity in those who<br>
never set out to struggle. He imagined how the arts and knowledge could awaken a spirited sense of<br>
themselves in a world ‐‐ a world that could recognize them as producers and leverage their deficiencies as a<br>
powerful voice to combat injustice and reconcile change.</p>

<p>The usual residency fee will be waived and the resident will be given $250 as a production budget. For the<br>
duration of the month an archive of Michael’s work will be stored on‐site at the Orientation Center. Midway<br>
through the residency, InCUBATE will host a public symposium co‐organized by the resident and Michael’s<br>
friend Jim Duignan of the Stockyard Institute.</p>
