<div><strong>What</strong>: fair and network event for artist initiatives and artist-run-spaces in Istanbul</div>

<div><strong>When</strong>: 02nd-06th October 2009</div>

<div><strong>Costs</strong>: no costs, but also no reimbursements (for flight or accommodation), however cheap accommodations are suggested to participants. Artist initiatives from countries that want to participate but have no funding possibilities are requested to contact the organisation directly and as soon as possible so we might find a solution. Entrance to the Istanbul Biënnale is free for participants.</div>

<div><strong>Deadline</strong>: application<strong> before </strong>10 September 11 a.m. Turkish time.</div>

<div><strong>Where</strong>: Kadirga Cultural Center: Kadýrga Liman Caddesi No:82 Kumkapý, Istanbul, Turkey (in the historical center of the city, near Sultanahmet).</div>

<div><strong>Why</strong>: to increase knowledge of and collaboration between artist initiatives</div>
<div> </div>
<div><strong>2 Day conference about</strong>: “Alternative to What?” What is an “artist initiative?” Is there only one definition of it? Most of the artist initiatives claim to be “alternative”. What are they alternative to? What is their role in society and in the art world? Other and more specific questions can be brought in by participants at the conference.</div>

<div><strong>Program</strong>: </div>
<div>2 october, setting up your presentation during the day and official opening at 19.00h.</div>
<div>3 october, public viewing, introductions in the morning and 'open space technology' chosing discussion topics after lunch.</div>
<div>4 october, public viewing, 'open space technology' discussing topics, screenings of video's brought by participating artist initiatives in the evening.</div>
<div>5 october, public view and <span lang="TR" style="font-size:10pt;line-height:150%;font-family:Arial">clean-up from 6:00 p.m. to 06th October 12 a.m. </span></div>
