 INTERNATIONAL GARBAGE ART EXHIBITION

 “Tamiz Shahar” JSC as fully state-owned company carries out the works 
 related to improvement of ecological situation of the city through 
 utilization and disposal of the municipal solid waste in accordance with 
 the modern standards in Baku city, the capital of Azerbaijan. For more

 Gala settlement is the pilot area where “Tamiz Shahar” JSC implements 
 “Tamiz Gala” (“Clean Gala”) project by the support of Heydar Aliyev 
 Foundation. The full waste management services, including organic and 
 non organic waste separation, their separate collection, transportation 
 and further disposal are provided within the project.

 Gala settlement located in the northeast of Absheron Peninsula is one 
 of the most ancient habitations in Azerbaijan, and outdoor Gala 
 Archeological-Ethnographic Museum Complex that was created in 2008 in 
 the territory of the Gala History-Ethnography Preserve by the initiative 
 of Heydar Aliyev Foundation,

 As the waste management operator in Gala settlement, ”Tamiz Shahar” JSC 
 announces International Garbage Art Exhibition within the framework of 
 sustainable public awareness campaigns. ”Tamiz Shahar” JSC invites 
 artists and creators to participate in International Garbage Art 
 Exhibition.

 The aim of the project is to interlink the art people who care of 
 environment and provide a chance to message their concerns on 
 environmental protection to public.
 The project will be realized in the Gala settlement under the open air 
 nearby the archaeological-ethnographic museum complex. The exact date 
 will be defined later.

 PROJECT DESCRIPTION

 The goal is:

 - To increase public awareness and change behavior on environmental 
 issues, especially on waste management.
 The exhibition should call local people to change behavior and 
 attitudes towards better waste management; and actively involved in the 
 sorting process.

 Who may attend:
 All the people who can show/submit his/her art work to the exhibition. 
 The art work shall be made from the waste and has a definite message to 
 the public.

 Selection process:

 Primary attention will be paid to applicant's motivation letter. 
 Motivation letter shall define the problem awareness level (solid waste 
 management) of the potential participant. This letter shall also cover 
 the reason of participating in the exhibition. Please be informed that 
 the limited number of words per letter is 200.
 
 Requirements:
 Applicants must be at least 18 years old by April, 2011.
 Your entry must include:
 ∙    a description of the proposed project, including the sketch of the 
 project
 ∙    necessary materials as well as the terms of installation 
 (production) – in case the proposed project shall be installed at the 
 place
 ∙    a concept of the show or an outline of a short catalogue essay,
 ∙    a short biography or CV stating the recent relevant projects and 
 references
 
 Note: There is no entry fee.

 How to apply:
 In order to apply, please email the following information in English to 
 office at artscouncil.az by April 15, 2011:

 Deadline
 The participant shall provide all the necessary information stated 
 above not later than April 15, 2011.
 
 The selected participants will be communicated via email not later than 
 the end of April, 2011. Please provide current and reliable contact 
 information, and be sure to check your email regularly.

 “Tamiz Shahar” JSC covers:
 -         all transport charges (incl. air flight);
 -         participants accommodation;
 -         availability of necessary materials (raider) for the 
 installation.

 The proposals (images/drafts along with the detailed description) will 
 be reviewed by the qualified panel, and the selection will be made not 
 later than the end of April, 2011.
