*29. Kasseler Dokumentarfilm- und Videofest startet am Dienstag*
Am kommenden Dienstag, 13. November 2012, startet das 29. Kasseler Dokfest.
Eingeleitet wird der offizielle Eröffnungsabend im Gloria Kino durch einen
Auszug von fünf Episoden aus der Arbeit der Kasseler Filmemacher Johannes
und Karl Brunnengräber ?Momenta 100 ? 100 Tage Film?. Im Anschluss dürfen
sich die rund 300 geladenen Gäste auf die Weltpremiere des Hauptfilmes
?Frohes Schaffen ? Ein Film zur Senkung der Arbeitsmoral? von Konstantin
Faigle freuen. Aufgrund der großen Nachfrage wird die unterhaltsame wie
anregende Reflektion zum Thema ?Arbeit? am Mittwoch, 14. November 2012, und
Sonntag, 18. November, jeweils 21:45 Uhr im Filmladen wiederholt.
Die filmisch-dokumentarische Annäherung an die 100 Tage Weltausstellung
dOCUMENTA (13) unter dem Titel ?Momenta 100 ? 100 Tage Film? hat am
Samstag, 17. November, um 14 Uhr im Gloria Kino in seiner ganzen Länge von
171 Minuten seine Weltpremiere.

271 internationale Filme und Videos, 17 Medieninstallationen (Monitoring)
und 15 audiovisuelle Performances (DokfestLounge) kommen an den sechs
Festivaltagen zur Aufführung und zeichnen ein vielseitiges wie
differenziertes Bild des aktuellen dokumentarischen Schaffens. Ergänzt wird
das Programm durch eine Reihe von Veranstaltungen, Vorträgen, Diskussionen
und Workshops. Ausführliche Infos zum Festivalprogramm finden Sie unter

Ca. 250 im Programm vertretenen Filmemacher/innen und Künstler/innen werden
vor Ort sein und ihre Arbeiten dem Publikum persönlich vorstellen.

Mittwoch, 14. November, 14:30 Uhr, Gloria Kino:
„UNPLUGGED: LEBEN Guaia Guaia“ von Sobo Swobodnik
Eine Langzeitbeobachtung zweier arbeitsloser Straßenmusiker, die der
vermeintlichen Perspektivlosigkeit Kreativität und Optimismus
entgegenstellen.
Nach der Vorstellung um 22:00 Uhr: Live-Konzert mit Guaia Guaia im KAROSHI,
Gießbergstraße 41-47, Kassel

Mittwoch, 14. November, 19 Uhr, Südflügel des KulturBahnhofs:
Vernissage der Ausstellung Monitoring mit 17 internationalen und nationalen
Medieninstallationen. Die ausstellenden Künstler/innen sind anwesend. Bis
23:00 Uhr sind auch die anderen Ausstellungsorte Kasseler Kunstverein,
Stellwerk, Nachrichtenmeisterei, Galerie Coucou geöffnet.

Mittwoch, 14. November, 20:00 Uhr, BALi Kinos:
Kurzfilmprogramm „Vor aller Augen“
Beeindruckend und aufrüttelnd ist der Film „Nach dem Brand“ von Malou
Berlin, der sich 20 Jahre nach dem rassistischen Anschlag auf eine
türkische Familie in Mölln auf Spurensuche begibt, und Opfer porträtiert,
die sich zwischen Verstehen, Gedenken, Alleingelassen, Vergessen und der
Sehnsucht nach einem „normalen“ Leben bewegen.

Mittwoch, 14. November, ab 22:30 Uhr, Caricatura-Bar und Galerie:
Zur Eröffnungsparty in der DokfestLounge eingeladen sind Iscapes 3 –
Pulp.Noir mit ihrer audiovisuellen Performance. VJ Immersiv digitalisiert
auf Papier skizzierte Zeichnungen, und die DJs dearjazz und BIRDY heizen
von Jazz bis Swing, mit Hip Hop und Shlomp richtig ein und bringen unsere
Hüften zum Schwingen.

Donnerstag, 15. November, 17:00 Uhr, Gloria:
„Detropia“ von Heidi Ewing und Rachel Grady
Ein cinematografisches Mosaik der Industriestadt Detroit auf der Suche nach
der eigenen Seele und neuer Symbole für die sich wandelnde Identität.

Donnerstag, 15. November, 17:30 Uhr, BALi Kinos:
Kurzfilmprogramm „Lebens-Wandel“ mit der Weltpremiere „Spielerberater“ von
Klaus Stern
Ein Berater von Fußballspieler/innen gewährte dem Kasseler Filmemacher
Einblicke in seine Welt. Am Ende kann sich jeder Zuschauer selbst die Frage
beantworten: Ist der miserable Ruf der Spielerberater gerechtfertigt?

Donnerstag, 15. November, 17:30 Uhr und 19:00 Uhr, Caricatura-Galerie:
Künstlergespräche zur Ausstellung Monitoring im DokfestForum

Donnerstag, 15. November, 20:00 Uhr, BALi Kinos:
Kurzfilmprogramm „Der Krieg im Inneren“
Zwei Arbeiten, die vom fast vergessenen Jugoslawien-Krieg erzählen und sich
damit auseinandersetzen, wie und ob der Krieg im Inneren überhaupt nach
Außen hin zu vermitteln ist.

Donnerstag, 15. November, 22:15 Uhr, Gloria, Deutschlandpremiere:
„Eames – The Architect and the Painter“ von Jason Cohn und Bill Jersey
Eine kurzweilige filmische Erkundungstour durchs Leben und Schaffen des
Künstlerehepaars Charles und Ray Eames und ihre Ausprägungen in
Architektur, Design und Kunst.

Donnerstag, 15. November, 22:30 Uhr, Live-Programm ab 23:30 Uhr,
Caricatura-Bar und Galerie:
Der französische Musiker, Maler und Videokünstler Jean-Michel Rolland
präsentiert mit seiner aktuellen audiovisuellen Performace „The unknown
Skater“ fantasie- und kunstvoll Sound und Bild , VJ Kevin Paschold (Berlin)
verknüpft sein persönliches Bildarchiv live mit dem Sound der
DokfestLounge, und die DJs Demais & Laser aus Kassel sorgen dafür, dass wir
unsere Körper tänzerisch von der Leine lassen.

*The 29th Kassel Documentary Film & Video Festival starts on Tuesday*

Next Tuesday, November 13, 2012 the 29th Kassel Documentary Film & Video
Festival will start. The official opening in the Gloria Cinema will be
initiated by a selection of five episodes of the work of Kassel based
filmmakers Johannes and Karl Brunnengräber titled “Momenta 100 – 100 Tage
Film”. Following the 300 guests will witness the world premiere screening
of the main feature “Keep Up The Good Work – A Film to Progress in Less
Hustle and Bustle” by Konstantin Faigle. Upon popular demand the
entertaining and at the same time stimulating reflection on the topic
“Work” will be repeated on Wednesday, November 14 and Sunday, November 18
both at 9:45 pm at the Filmladen.

The cinematic-documentary approach to the 100 day world exhibition
dOCUMENTA (13) titled “Momenta 100 – 100 Tage Film” will have its world
premiere on Sunday, November 17 at 2:00 pm at the Gloria Cinema in its
entire length of 171 minutes.

271 international films and videos, 17 media installations (Monitoring) and
15 audio-visual performances (DokfestLounge) will be presented during the
six festival days and will show a varied and multi-faceted picture of
current documentary work. The program is complemented by a series of
events, lectures, discussions and workshops. Detailed information on the

free of charge festival catalog.

About 250 filmmakers and artists, who are part of the program, will be in
Kassel to present their works to the audience in person.

Wednesday, November 14, 2:30 pm, Gloria Cinema:
„UNPLUGGED: LEBEN Guaia Guaia“ by Sobo Swobodnik
A long time observation of two unemployed street musicians, who show
creativity and optimism in spite of the supposed lack of opportunity.
After the screening there will be a live concert with Guaia Guaia at
KAROSHI, Gießbergstraße 41-47, Kassel

Wednesday, November 14, 7:00 pm, Südflügel KulturBahnhof:
Vernissage of the exhibition Monitoring with 17 national and international
media-installations. The artists involved will be present. The other
exhibtion venues Kasseler Kunstverein, Stellwerk, Nachrichtenmeisterei and
Calerie Coucou will be opened till 11 pm.
Entrance is free of charge.

Wednesday, November 14, 8:00 pm, BALi Cinemas:
Short film program “Out in the Open”
The film “After the Fire” by Malou Berlin is both impressive and arousing.
20 years after the racist attack on a Turkish family in Mölln the film
investigates the incident and portraits the victims, who long for a
“normal” life despite of being left alone, being forgotten, understanding
and memory.

Wednesday, November 14, 10:30 pm, Caricatura-Bar and Gallery:
Iscapes 3 – Pulp.Noir are invited to the DokfestLounge with their
audio-visual performance. VJ Immersiv digitalizes sketches on paper and the
DJs dearjazz and BIRDY will fire up the audience a mixture from Jazz to
Swing, Hip Hop and Shlomp and will make us move our hips.

Thursday, November 15, 5:00 pm, Gloria:
“Detropia” by Heidi Ewing and Rachel Grady
A cinematographic mosaic of the industrial city Detroit in search of its
own soul and new symbols for its changing identity.

Thursday, November 15, 5:30 pm, BALi Cinemas:
Short film program “Lebens-Wandel” with the world premiere “Spielerberater”
by Klaus Stern. An agent for soccer players offers the Kassel based
filmmaker some insights into this world. At the end the viewer can answer
for him/herself: Is the bad reputation of these agents justified?

Talks with artists presented in the exhibition Monitoring (DokfestForum)

Thursday, November 15, 8:00 pm, BALi Cinemas:
Short film program “The War Within”
Two works telling about and dealing with the almost forgotten war in
Yugoslavia and how and how the War Within can be transferred to the
outside, if this is at all possible.

Thursday, November 15, 10:15 pm, Gloria, German premiere:
“Eames – The Architect and the Painter” by Jason Cohn and Bill Jersey
An entertaining cinematic discovery tour through the lives and works of the
artist couple Charles and Ray Eames and their manifestations in
architecture, design and art.

Thursday, November 15, 10:30 pm, Live program from 11:30 pm, Caricatura-Bar
and Gallery:
The French musician, painter and video artist Jean-Michel Rolland presents
his current audio-visual performance “The unknown Skater”, rich in
imagination and images of sound and pictures. VJ Kevin Paschold (Berlin)
connects his personal archive of images with the sound of the
DokfestLounge, and the Kassel based VJs Demais & Laser will provide the
right scene to make our bodies dance.
