Following the successful relaunch in 2012, VIENNAFAIR The New  
Contemporary will again place the city of Vienna in the limelight of  
the contemporary art world. The high number of galleries that have  
applied to participate this year is impressive proof of VIENNAFAIR The  
New Contemporary’s chosen path to attract not only national and  
international art collectors but also new audiences for contemporary  
art and galleries, and to thereby make a sustainable contribution to  
the development of the contemporary art scene.

Vienna’s historic role as a hub of exchange between the East and the  
West is equally decisive as its lively club scene and the relaxed  
coffee house culture. VIENNAFAIR The New Contemporary provides a forum  
to discover both young artists from all corners of Europe and around  
the world as well as established positions in the international art  
market.

The Focus on Central, Eastern, North Eastern and South Eastern  
European Countries as well as other “Easts” Brings New Positions to  
Vienna
Over the course of the past nine years VIENNAFAIR The New Contemporary  
has become a springboard for galleries and artists from countries in  
the Central, Eastern, and South-Eastern European region. Many  
galleries made their first presentation for an international audience  
here. Likewise, also numerous international art collectors used the  
opportunity to meet artists at the fair, many who are now key figures  
in the international art scene, and to purchase their work. VIENNAFAIR  
The New Contemporary offers an unparalleled spectrum of art and  
galleries from the East and the West that converges in Vienna, a city  
that has always been rich in the history and future prospects of both  
hemispheres.
