Great opportunity for summer 2019! Monthly urbanism residency WE ARE NEVER
ALONE in Ivano-Frankivsk, Ukraine looking for participants (*open-call ends
on 21st of April*).

WE ARE NEVER ALONE is space of possibilities for *10 practitioners* –
activists, urbanists, cultural workers, artists, architects, researchers,
writers, theorists, performers, scientists, among others – from Ukraine and
abroad, to gather for one month and develop, reflect, criticise,
experiment, and suggest new forms of urban participatory practices.

The rise of ‘socially-driven’ practices which focus on ‘social-sculpting’,
‘participation’ and ‘community engagement’, particularly in the realm of
urbanism, has led to the rise of general awareness of the transformative
qualities that art practice can have as a tool for creating kinship, but
also its pitfalls.

Do not forget about the importance of citizens participation in the city
development processes, and with this residency, we want to ask our own
practice under question mark to understand what can be the tools for
participatory practices without falling in stereotyped discourses, whilst
understanding the multi-dimensionality of the context(s)?

This project is supported by the United States Agency for International
Development (USAID).
The residents will be provided with a travel bursary, per diem stipends,
accommodation, a production budget and an artist fee.
