International Chamber Music Competition, Norway, 25-29 Sep (deadline: 25 Apr)



Jeunesses Musicales Norway, in co-operation with Trondheim Chamber Music
Festival, organises the 4th edition of the International Chamber Music
Competition from the 25th to the 29th of September 2007.

This competition is the only chamber music competition to be held in
Norway and is open for Piano Trios from all over the world. With
attractive prizes, both cash prizes and festival engagements in 2008, we
hope that the competition can act as a springboard to a further career in
chamber music.

The competition will be held during the Trondheim Chamber Music Festival.
The combined maximum age of the trio members as of 1st September 2007 is
90 years. The age limit for each musician of the trio must be under 35 and
over 16 years on 1st September 2007.

The trio shall participate in three stages:
- The first stage on Tuesday 25th and Wednesday 26th September
- The second stage on Thursday 27th September
- The final stage on Saturday 29th September.

The Jury is comprised of top national and international chamber musicians
and soloists, such as Menahem Pressler USA (Chairman), Marianne Thorsen
UK, Tim Frederiksen, Denmark, Lambert Orkis, USA and Ellen Flesjø, Norway.

Prizes:
First Prize: Euro 12.000
- engagement at Festivals in Summer 2008
Second Prize: Euro 6.000
Third Prize: Euro 3.000

Audience Prize: Engagement as Ensemble in Residence at Trondheim Chamber
Music Festival Sept. 2008. All participants in the competition may attend
all the Festival's concerts for free. Some trios that do not reach the
final will have the possibility to play the rest of their repertoire in
regional concerts. All participants are invited to be honored guests at
the Gala Concert on Sunday 30th September and to the following dinner
reception.

The application deadline is 25th April 2007. Candidates will be selected
from recordings and references and the judges' decision is final. The
trios will be informed of the selection results by medium May 2007.
