The Arab Fund for Arts and Culture (AFAC) announces a call for
applications for project grants for collaborative work and other
priorities. Applications invited from artists, writers and cultural
operators.

Deadline is October 30th. Applications received after this date will be
considered for the 2008 grants round.

The Arab Fund for Arts & Culture has just launched its grant-making
program, with the generous support of a number of Arab philanthropists.
The Arab Fund for Arts and Culture aims at stimulating and supporting
creativity, critical thinking and freedom of expression in the Arab World.
AFAC is dedicated to the development of a robust, independent Arab
cultural identity which reflects the social and political realities of the
region. By providing a stable source of funding to individual artists and
organizations producing diverse and innovative work, AFAC will empower the
next generation of Arab artists to pursue their dreams of excellence in
the cultural fields of literature, film, theatre, music and visual arts.
Grants will be issued to recipients in specific countries as well as those
working across multiple Arab countries and sub-regions in order to
strengthen existing partnerships, facilitate collaborative bridges and
better address shared social concerns.

Le Fonds arabe pour l’art et la culture
Mission
Le Fonds arabe pour l’art et la culture cherche à stimuler et encourager
la créativité, la pensée critique et la liberté d’expression dans le monde
arabe.

Objectifs
Le Fonds est consacré au développement d’une identité culturelle arabe
indépendante et solide, qui reflète les réalités sociales et politiques de
la région. En munissant les artistes individuels ainsi que les
organisations qui produisent des travaux divers et innovants de ressources
pécuniaires stables, le Fonds habilitera la nouvelle génération de
créateurs arabes à aspirer à ses rêves d’accomplissement dans les domaines
culturels de la littérature, le cinéma, le théâtre, la musique et les arts
visuels. Des bourses seront accordées à des bénéficiaires dans certains
pays aussi bien qu’ à ceux travaillant dans plusieurs pays et sous-régions
arabes, afin de consolider les partenariats existant, faciliter la
collaboration et mieux répondre aux problèmes sociaux communs.

• Augmenter et mettre en valeur la production et la recherche culturelles
• Stimuler l’échange et la collaboration culturels sur la région arabe
• Permettre aux artistes et aux organisations arabes de définir et
présenter une identité arabe
• Identifier et développer les voies de distributions pour les arts arabes
• Fournir une source de fonds durable aux initiatives culturelles
indépendantes
