Konstfack University College of Arts, Crafts and Design, Stockholm

Konstfack's Master's Program 2008/2009
Application deadline: March 1st, 2008.

Call for applications:

Konstfack's Master's Program in Arts, Crafts and Design 2008/2009

Konstfack is the largest university college of arts, crafts and design in
Sweden. Established in 1844, the school today has become a thriving,
modern campus. Our Master's Program comprises nine separate Master's
Groups, hosted by individual departments under the supervision of
professors and faculty:

-Storytelling
-Formgiving Intelligence
-InSpace
-Experience Design
-Art in the Public Realm
-WIRE write + interpret + research + exhibit
-Ceramics and Glass
-Jewellery + Corpus
-Textiles in the Expanded Field

Our graduate level program, a two-year program that leads to a Master's of
Arts in Fine Art, Design or Crafts, fuses design, art, history, theory and
criticism into compelling forms of inquiry based on studio work and
practical experience. Students are encouraged to design elements of their
own course of study, across different departments at Konstfack. With
individual teaching from prominent professors, faculty, visiting
practitioners and theoreticians, and with access to workshop facilities
that few institutions can match, our students are well prepared for future
careers and doctoral studies.

Each Master's Group combines broad study with close analysis of your
chosen field. A part of the Master's program is made up of compulsory
courses which are the same for all Master's students. These introduce you
to a wide range of theories and methodologies in practice-based research,
and show how these can be applied in your creative practice. Elective
courses, offered by individual departments at Konstfack, provide
opportunities for further shaping your chosen specialization. For elective
courses, you decide with your supervisor which courses would best serve
your specific interests and aims.

General Requirements
The Master's Program is designed for students with a Bachelor's degree, a
professional degree with a minimum of 180 academic credits (ECTS), or an
equivalent foreign degree. Exceptions to these degree requirements may be
made for students who have acquired equivalency by other means. You should
have a good command of spoken and written English, a clear vision of your
educational goals, be informed about current research and development work
in your discipline, and able to work independently.

Applications
Final date for applications: March 1st, 2008.
Final date for portfolios: March 10th, 2008.
