În contextul sărbătorilor de independență a Republicii Moldova, de  
la finalul lunii august 2012, Chișinăul s-a ales cu două spații  
publice amenajate cu aportul colectivelor de arhitecți din Cehia,  
Georgia, România și a voluntarilor din Uniunea Europeană.

Unul din aceste spații nu este altceva decît o anexă la Apartament- 
ul Deschis (http://chiosc.oberliht.com/apartament) amplasat pe str.  
București 68/1, pe care o vom folosi drept spațiu pentru proiecții  
în aer liber.

Prin prezentarea filmului A RAS DEL SUELO în regia lui Alberto Garcнa  
Ortiz şi Agatha Maciaszek (2006) noi continuăm programul de  
proiecții dedicat spaţiului public şi rolului său în societate.

Filmat în decursul a trei ani, acest film oferă o viziune asupra  
vieţii de zi cu zi a rezidenţilor din cartierul Lavapiés (Madrid),  
supus unui proces de reabilitare care îi afectează pe locuitori.  
Povestea filmului se perindă pe străzile cartierului, unde au loc  
proteste ale rezidenţilor impotriva autorităţilor locale, iar  
întrunirile zilnice dintre diferite persoane sunt filmate de jos, de  
la nivelul străzii. Majoritatea conversaţiilor se concetrează pe  
relaţiile oamenilor cu politicienii care ignoră necesităţile unui  
cartier în stare de abandon. Sunt prezentate şi nişte momente de  
reflecţie asupra unor subiecte de natură transcendentală, precum  
viaţa, trecutul şi amintirile cartierului şi a rezidenţilor săi.

Ideea documentarului derivă din interesul autorilor, în calitate de  
rezidenţi din Lavapiés, asupra întîlnirilor şi neînţelegerilor  
de la centrul de sănătate din cartier (CDS). Intenţia lor a fost să  
captureze relaţiile spontane dintre diferiţi rezidenţi locali şi  
să denunţe situaţiile absurde de la CDS. O colecţie de semnături  
strînse de către activiştii cartierului au permis cunoaşterea  
persoanelor care ulterior au devenit protagoniştii filmului. După ce  
autorităţile CDS-ului au interzis filmările în interiorul  
clădirii, autorii au înţeles că puteau surprinde realitatea  
cartierului din stradă – un loc de întîlnire unde nu se solicită  
nici un permis şi unde bogăţia conversaţiilor zilnice curge uşor.  
Ideea filmului a urmărit prezentarea acestui subiect ca punct de  
pornire a unei preocupări mai universale: transformarea unui cartier  
şi eternul abis dintre locuitorii nemulţumiţi şi politicieni.

At the end of August 2012, having the Independence day of Republic of  
Moldova in the background, Chisinau got two newly arranged public  
spaces with the help of architects’ collectives from Czech Republic,  
Georgia, Romania and a group of volunteers from European Union.

One of these spaces is actually an annex to the Flat Space (http://chiosc.oberliht.com/apartament 
) situated on Bucuresti str. 68/1 in Chisinau and that will be used  
for open air screenings.

By presenting the film A RAS DEL SUELO directed by Alberto García  
Ortiz & Agatha Maciaszek (2006) we give continuity to the screening  
program dedicated to public space and its social role.

Filmed over the course of three years, this documentary offers a  
window onto the everyday life of the residents of Madrid’s Lavapiés  
neighbourhood, immersed in a process of rehabilitation that affects  
the people who live there. The story flows through the streets of the  
neighbourhood where protests are held by residents against local  
authorities, and everyday encounters between different people are  
filmed from down below, at the street level. The majority of the  
conversations focus on their relationship with politicians who ignore  
the needs of a neighbourhood in a state of abandonment. There are also  
moments of reflection on subjects of a transcendental nature such as  
life, the past, and memories of the neighbourhood and its residents.

The idea for the documentary arose from the directors’ interest, as  
residents of Lavapiés, in the encounters and disagreements at the  
neighbourhood health centre (CDS). They wanted to capture the  
spontaneous relations among different local residents and also  
denounce the absurd situation at that CDS. A collection of signatures  
gathered by neighbourhood activists served to get to know people who  
would later become the protagonists of the film. After the authorities  
at CDS denied permission to film inside the building, the filmmakers  
realized that they could portray the reality of the neighbourhood from  
the streets, a meeting place where no permits are required and the  
richness of everyday conversations flows easily. The idea was to use  
this local subject as a base to show something more universal: the  
transformation of a neighbourhood, and the eternal abyss between  
unhappy local residents and politicians.
