SHORT&TIGHT, the Kino-Sports-Cup announced for June 21st to 23rd, 2013
After the great success of 2011, with 21 films submitted, and 2012, with 27 films submitted, the Munich Film Society is organizing for the third time the KURZ&KNAPP ("SHORT&TIGHT") Kino-Sports-Cup as a highlight of the annual
KALIBER35 Munich International Short Film Festival, from June 20th to 26th.
The awesome outcomes of the 2012 KURZ&KNAPP competition can be seen online at https://vimeo.com/album/1952928/format:detail
For those interested in taking part in 2013, here come the hard facts:
SHORT – The films which are produced here will have to be short – exactly 3 minutes and 50 seconds (or up to 35 per cent shorter or longer).
TIGHT – There won't be a lot of time available. The competition starts on Friday, June 21st at 11 pm at the Monopol-Kino. The film teams are given obligatory elements which have to be part of the film. Thus we make sure that film teams do not use pre-produced material. Exactly 35 hours later, the film teams have to hand in their productions at the film.coop, Westendstraße 123, not later than 10 am. All films submitted will be screened to the audience on the same (Sunday, June 23rd) evening at 9 pm at Filmtheater Sendlinger Tor, where the film teams will be presented and the best films and individual performances will be awarded by the jury.
KINO – Is not only the German word for all the venues participating but as well the name of the whole international movement which makes films within a certain time in so called 'Cabarets'.
SPORTS – It is certainly a sportive challenge to write, plan, shoot, edit, compose and play a film under pressure of time – just as improvised theater which is also called 'theater sports'. But taking part ain't
everything:
CUP – As in Admiral's Cup (In this context: we would be glad about international teams as well). This year a renowned jury, including Dr.
Claudia Gladziejewski, head of the short film dept. at Bavarian Television, Inga Pudenz, from the Scenario agency and Peter Knoll, representing the Munich Film Society, will take on the task of awarding the best films and individual performances with valuable in-kind prizes from ARRI Film & TV, Dedo Weigert, Corel and Trend Micro among others.
Everybody can participate – alone or as a team, using a mobile phone or an HD-camera, professional filmmakers as well as beginners, young or old.
Application has to be made by paying the 35 € application fee (per team) before Friday, June 21st at 10 pm. The link to do so as well as many more information on rules, the course of events, awards etc. can be found on the internet at http://www.kurz-knapp.de
We are looking forward to watching your films!
Martin Blankemeyer, Silvia Osellini, Peter Knoll & the whole festival team
P.S. If you want to team up with others to take part, probably the best opportunity to do so is the Munich Film Society's monthly "Jour fixe" on Saturday, June 15th at 8 pm at the film.coop – please find all information about this event at http://www.muenchner-filmwerkstatt.de/jour-fixe
